Persona ~Trinity Soul~
NISA once again brings us another addition to the Persona series with Persona -Trinity Soul- Vol.1 DVD. This box set comes with 2 DVDs, containing episodes 1-13, and an art book packed in a premium edition case. The art book contains various information about each character, brief summaries of the first 13 episodes, various artworks of the anime, and interviews with members of the anime production team.
The basis of Persona -Trinity Soul- is that there are entities called Persona, which resides within various people. It centers around Shin Kanzato, his family and friends, and the various strange events that happen in their town involving Personas. The strange events stir up curiosity amongst people and lead to questions about how or why it happens. Amidst all these strange happenings, Shin and crew go about their own daily lives until they each individually find themselves getting involved in these happenings one way or another. Whether or not they stay or run is up to the viewers to find out by checking out this series.
The characters introduced in this Vol. 1 release are as follows:
*Shin Kanzato: The main protagonist, Shin seems a bit weak and whiny but very protective of those important to him. He is the younger and older brother of Ryo Kanzato and Jun Kanzato. Shin’s Persona is Abel.
*Jun Kanzato: Shin’s little brother. Jun seems more like the somewhat quiet and girly-boy who deeply cares about everyone around him. It seems there’s more to him than meets the eye. Jun’s Persona is Seth.
*Ryo Kanzato: Shin and Jun’s big brother. Ryo is the Chief of the town’s police and is always so focused on his work that he barely has time for others. He keeps his distance and puts up a cold attitude towards Shin and Jun. Ryo’s Persona is Cain.
*Takuro Sakakiba: Shin, Megumi, and Kanaru’s friend and classmate. He portrays himself as a tough guy, who doesn’t care about anyone else but deep down he cares about those that matter to him. Takuro’s Persona is Spartacus.
*Megumi Kayano: Shin, Takuro, and Kanaru’s friend and classmate. She is the loud and overly bearing and caring one. She does not hesitate to say what’s on her mind when it comes to anything that she deems dangerous. Megumi’s Persona is Diana.
*Kanamaru Morimoto: Shin, Takuro, and Megumi’s friend and classmate. The seemingly most shy person of the group. She doesn’t openly express her care for her friends and loved ones but comes through for the group when necessary.
Persona -Trinity Soul- overall is a pretty good series for anime fans. For Persona fans, this may be a bit of a slower start then they are used to but the pace and action picks up as the anime progresses. The story plot does a few twist and turns to explain things that happen over time and keeps things interesting. A big bonus is that the overall layout out of the set is fresh and unique, plus having an art book is always a nifty thing for long time fans. With Anime Expo 2010 around the corner, go hit up the NISA booth and check out this awesome set as it’s surely to be on sale first at their booth!
NISA has chosen 2 fun animes with Persona ~Trinity Soul~ and Toradora and both animes have vol. 2 releasing roughly one month after vol. 1 has been released, which is much faster than other anime localization companies, if oyu like your animes like you like your games subbed NISA has picked the right choice for anime.
