Meet LMFAO. They are the first dance electronic group in the history of party to be named after a rated R text chat acronym. LMFAO is made of Stefan Kendal “RedFoo” Gordy and his nephew Skyler “Sky Blu” Gordy (colors included). They keep your party live with their debut album “Party Rock.” They spike the punch, encourage endless drink shots all-day, instigate beer pong, and de-clothe the civil. Netted with co-signs from Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am (being signed to his Will.i.am music group along with Interscope, RedFoo attended school with Will.i.am aka Mr. Yes We Can Obama) and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy (who is RedFoo’s father - true story), they energetically aim to elevate the party with their witty style of music that challenges the form and the norm of dance electronica music mixing it with some vintage hip hop flavor. RedFoo is no stranger to the producer’s corner, he produced Ahmad’s 1994 smash hit “Back in the Day.” One can hear the resemblances in his production today. LMFAO prove to be versatile connoisseurs in their approach to their style of music. In a Vibe interview, RedFoo Hefner claimed, “We can go into an urban area and freestyle in a cipher..or we can go to a club and just dance out. We can talk to an Internet programmer, or we can talk to a crackhead. We are people people. And, um, party people.”

LMFAO are definitely party people. Their daily attire speaks loud and would stand out in the wildest of raves, the most banging casino, and the flashiest night club. Their threads are filled with intense colors, which match their persona on stage, off stage, on wax, and wax off. LMFAO is more of a concept first and then a group. In the world of Dance & Electronica, the DJ is master and controls the movement of the party. LMFAO embody that control with their own music, and other artists’ music. Put a normal song through the LMFAO filter, can expect its level of energy to be turned up a couple of notches. They created a buzz for themselves when they remixed Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown” song from his “808’s & Heartbreak” album. They turned up the beat and took it to a different level. LMFAO brings the urban listener closer to the Electronica society.

LMFAO’s Party Rock is an album that spurs a spontaneous party that induces sweat, drunkenness until you lose sense of touch, and uncontrollable dancing. Cuts like “I’m in Miami B!#@h” serve as a clever anthem for a world renowned party city. “Get Crazy,” and up-tempo electro supersonic bombastic song, gives you the feel that you are listening to descendents of Hip Hop legend Afrika Bambaataa in the way he use to DJ parties with his electro funk from his wheels of steel, they deliver a similar updated sound with more beat patterns and chord rhythms.  LMFAO also keep a distinct theme in each of their songs amidst their intense beat patterns. On “Lil’ Hipster Girl” they rap about a cutie in the club that stops theme in their tracks to observe. They also borrow vocals from RUN DMC from their “Here We Go (Live at the funhouse” song to serenade with their coasting beat. “What Happens At The Party” sounds like a slight slower JJ Fad “Supersonic” with screwed break beats. “Leaving U 4 The Groove” is one of those memorable songs that hold a timeless theme. Aided with great production from LMFAO themselves, they subliminally rhyme about leaving a companion that keeps them from their ambitions while sparking a dance frenzy with their heavy claps, electro ripples and intense break beats. The ultimate LMFAO tune on “Part Rock” features Lil Jon in “Shots.” This song definitely holds to be a drinkers anthem and offers the rhythmically challenged a home on the dance floor. It is controlled chaos at its best.
