Country Strong

Country Strong

Gwyneth Paltrow was a country sensation in the new film Country Strong! Not only did we get to see Paltrow’s incredible acting skills, but we got a close look at not only what a beautiful but powerful voice this actress has. Though this isn’t the first film where we’ve heard Paltrow sing. She first made her debut in 2000 in the film Duets, and had a singing roll in Infamous. You also may have seen and heard Paltrow on Fox's Tv show Glee. She made a guest appearance as a substitute teacher and sang Nowadays and Forget you from the musical Chicago and a mash-up of Singing in the Rain and Rihanna’s Umbrella. It’s fair to say that Paltrow blew country fans away with her performance in the film.

Nashville superstar Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow), has an alcohol addiction and almost throws her singing career down the drain, and looses her baby along the way. She’s put into rehab but is taking out too early by her husband/manager James  (Tim McGraw) who is very concentrated on rehabilitating her singing career. He has what you can call her come back tour lined up and two up and coming artist Beau (Garrett Hedlund) and Chiles (Leighton Meester) opening up for Canter.

The audience is well aware of Beau and Canter’s secret relationship and can clearly tell that Canter isn’t ready to go back on stage just yet.

Her marriage with James is pretty much gone, and Canter feels threaten by the future young and beautiful country star Chiles as she notices James smiling more often around the upcoming artist.

The background story might not be so interesting, just another country-pop film but the talent these four lead actors bring to the picture makes up for it, especially from the talented up and coming actor Garrett Hedlund. He does an amazing job of connecting the audience to his character. I can just see Hudland becoming one of the next country sensations!

The film sends out an awesome message, to never give up on fulfilling your dream even if you feel like it’s over or unreachable. Confidence is the key and with a great support team anything is possible.

The film was Directed by Shana Feste and produced by Tobey Maguire and his partner Jenno Topping.
