AVATAR LIMITED EDITION

"I told our team --- let's do the ultimate box set of Avatar, with everything in it the fans could possibly want. There's an extended length cut that's sixteen minutes longer, plus documentaries, behind the scenes featurettes, artwork and over 45 minutes of deleted scenes. Everything worth putting into a special edition is in this set," said  James Cameron.

FIrst and foremost the most important thing that you should take away from this article is that you should buy the Avatar 3 Disc Blu-Ray set if only to own a piece of historic memorabilia. The most expensive/highest grossing film in the history of cinema is now available in a way that goes above and beyond in the home version. You will not be disappointed with the amount of bonus materials that are supplied inside the 3 disk set. Most collectors editions will tell you you are getting more for your money in the form of extra footage, behind the scenes, or extra deleted scenes. The difference is that this version of AVATAR , has that plus much, much more.

Disc one is comprised of 5 different versions of the historic film. To start there is the Original Theatrical version, The Special Edition Re-Release, And the Collector's Extended version, which features 16 more minutes and an exclusive alternate opening. Now I said in the opening that there is 5 different versions and as of yet, I have only listed three. Thats because the last two are variations of the Original Theatrical Release and the Special Edition Re-Release, Named specifically "FAMILY AUDIO TRACKS". The problem that James Cameron  found in the final versions of Avatar was that there was some objectionable language that younger audiences were exposed too, and while the film was ment to be for everyone, his 7 year old son repeating some of this language and using the excuse, "They say it in Avatar dad," was not ok with our film maker.  In the last two versions of the film all such language has been removed.

Disc Two Starts with a documentary of the filming of the most expensive movie in history. The Documentary was filmed side by side with the the film and not afterwards, so you actually get the actors, director, and producers side of the story and thoughts WHILE the movie is still being made, and not after it was the success that we know it to be. Not only is there a Documentary that they made while filming but there is also a "Mock-umentary"  that was filmed and developed by  the crew and cast as a joke on Jim Cameron, and to show he is a good sport he also made this available on the Collectors Edition Blu-Ray. This Disc also contains 45 minutes of deleted scenes in various stages of completion. All of these scenes are never before seen and separate from the alternate beginning and 16 extra minutes that are contained in the first Disc. To keep a running count on extra footage of the film available on this new Collectors edition Blu-Ray, the original theatrical version is timed at 2:42. If we add the 16 minutes in from the Collector's Extended cut it brings the film to 2:58, and finally the extra 45 minutes of extra footage brings the total time of the actual film to 3:43. A full hour of never before seen moments from the most watched film in theatrical history.

As if there were not already enough reasons listed above to go out and purchase the "Extended Collector's Edition Blu-Ray" on November 16 2010, I would like to point out that in the beginning of this article I stated that there were 3 discs to the set and we have currently only listed the features not he first two. What else could James Cameron hand over to us that would be of any relevance or importance after the 5 total different versions, 2 documentaries, 45 minutes of deleted scenes. So at this point we have brought you up to speed on the first two of the discs that will be featured in the Extended Collector's Edition Blu-Ray, but as I said prior there are three discs. The Third Disc is icing on the Avatar cake. It has an Interactive Scene Deconstruction which enables you to explore the various stages of production through the 3 different viewing modes, Production shorts , that are categorized as 17 featurettes covering Performance Capture, scoring the film, 3D fusion camera, stunts and much, much more.

In conclusion I think it is safe to say that even if you have a copy of AVATAR at your home already, it is nothing in comparison to this piece of memorabilia that James Cameron has put together for our viewing pleasure. I know I will be in line on
