“This that shit! Shit to make ya feel like a kid again” are the lyrics that kept replaying in my head hours after the melody landed in my ears! There are some songs that get stuck in your head and you just want to take an AK-47 to your temple, and others that make you want to replay the song over and over again until your sibling or friends want to take an AK-47 to your CD changer! Since I’m here writing, I’m sure all of you can guess which category Shawn Chrystopher’s new single “Like A Kid Again” takes a slot in!

Shawn Chrystopher is a fairly new artist in the hip hop scene with just one mixtape and LP, “A City With No Seasons,” in his library of many more to come. Following in the footsteps of a young Drake, Shawn made his way into the scene as his own manager of talent and growth by “writing, performing, producing, mixing, and mastering all of his own music.” He is truly a master of his own craft with a sound that is purely his and a name to soon resonate in the eyes of the hip hop world.

The Inglewood native brings back childhood memories in his new single with lyrics of “ditch[ing] class on Tuesdays for the new Jay” and a talent of “flows since the swing set.” “Like a Kid Again” not only features a rap sound but also incorporates instruments like the piano, creating a new, unheard of, and easy going sound that easily takes a seat on the replay button in your head!

With promising direction and talent, Shawn Chrystopher’s upcoming album “The Audition,” to release late March, is sure to be a staple in the 2010 music scene. So keep your calendars posted because “this that shit. Shit to make ya feel like a kid again!”
