B.o.B is the stage name for up and coming Atlanta rapper Bobby Ray. His music is true to hip-hop with lyrics that feature melodies, allusions, and a comedian type of essence. It’s a sound that hops into memory and sits on just push play. His new album/single release “Nothin’ on You” features the hit radio sensation and a song that can originate from the likes of old school rap - “I Feed These Streets.”
B.o.B has scored with pop culture with the song “Nothin’ on You” featuring Bruno Mars. It’s a song that twinges the heart and sears the soul with lyrics like “[…] and no matter where I’m at girl you make me wanna sing (sing), whether a bus or a plane or a car or a train (train). No other girls in my brain and you the one to blame.” It’s a love song that describes the only girl for him, and the only girl on his mind that instigates a silly kind of humor with “and just like that girl you got me fro[ze], like a nintendo 64 (64), if you never knew well now you know…”
“I Feed These Streets” is far different from the soft melody of “Nothin’ On You.” Instead it features a sound from hip-hop’s past (almost like a dash of Bone Thugs) and explains who Bobby Ray is, where he came from, and what he’s here to do. He explains his trials and tribulations in music “from open mic nights, to getting boo’d at talent shows, but still I gotta be unstoppable like Santigold.” His enduring musical spirit is set out to feed his people with pure music and a true identity straight from the streets of Atlanta.
“I feed these streets, from the east side back to the west side. And you can ask about me they’ll tell you from the north side to the south side I feed these streets…”
