Astro Boy one of the most well known characters, can be considered the pioneer to the anime industry has been around since the 1950’s as a manga and then followed by the cartoon series. Osamu Tezuka’s young super hero robot took Japan by storm and eventually made its way overseas opening the eyes of foreign audiences. Astro boy created by Osamu Tezuka, known as the father of manga told the story of Atom (Astro) a young robot boy created by Dr. Tenma after the loss of his son Toby. Astro could not replace Toby so he couldn’t be accepted by his father and so leaves in search of acceptance…..
Astro boy the movie will be released October 23rd in the States and was released October 10th In Japan, and to celebrate the release right around the corner, the red carpet premier was held at the Grauman’s Chinese Theatre and there were a lot of stars from the movie, and many fans of the cartoon came to check it out and we got to talk to quite a few.
We got a chance to talk to Makoto Tezuka, the son of Osamu Tezuka about how it was growing up with his father being so famous, how it affected him and his own work as well. Makoto told us how much he respected his father and now own part of his father’s company Tezuka production and really looked forward to the movie and its sequal.
Up next, a pervious Fruit of the week was there and we recognized each other in a flash and that would be Julia Voth. Many of you may remember her featured video talking about her being the model for Resident Evil since the first Resident Evil. Julia talked about being a fan of the series and looked forward to the movie and we can look forward to hearing more from her soon.
As a great surprise we saw X Japan’s drummer Yoshiki Hayashi, was there telling us originally X Japan was set to do the theme for Astro Boy but since he had a small injury was unable to, but look forward to more of X Japan soon.
Kristen Bell talked to us about her role as Cora, one of Astro’s best friends who helps supports him in his time of need. Kristen told us about how different is was taking this role and her enjoyment of the film.
Finally we got to talk to Freddie Highmore, aka Astro boy! Freddie is a huge Astro boy fan himself so to him getting the role was a great and that he has been watching Astro boy since he was younger.
