Comedy Central to ‘Roast’ Charlie Sheen

Comedy Central to ‘Roast’ Charlie Sheen

The next victim in Comedy Central’s highly popular and highly hilarious series of Roasts is none other than embattled actor Charlie Sheen.

Following a year of strange behavior and trouble surrounding his personal and professional life, Sheen has agreed to take part in Comedy Central’s Roast series and has assured Comedy Central and fans that no topic will be off limits. Sheen, who was released from his Two and a Half Men contract in May after several production halts and erratic public behavior, is the first to admit that he has been providing material for such an event for years to come. A notorious partier, drug and alcohol abuser, and womanizer from the earliest years of his career, Charlie can expect the yet-to-be-announced roast master and a series of celebrity personalities to leave nothing off the table.

This won’t be Sheen’s first venture into self-deprecating humor. Following his exit from Two and a Half Men and several bizarre television interviews, Charlie took to the stage on his “My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not An Option” tour, making light of the events that were occurring in his life and taking jabs at himself and his critics. The show, met with mixed reviews, paraded Charlie’s larger-than-life persona that included his “goddesses”, popularized the catch phrases “winning” and “tiger blood” among others and sold out in venues across the country, including New York’s coveted Radio City Music Hall.

Personally, I think it’s great to see that Charlie Sheen has agreed to do the Comedy Central Roast and that he has a sense of humor about the events that have occurred in his life. Many personalities in the public eye would probably shy away from having their dirty laundry turned into a joke, but Sheen seems to be a good sport about it and it will no doubt be a huge success for Comedy Central and for Sheen’s public image. Several outrageous celebrities, including Donald Trump, Joan Rivers, and David Hasselhoff, have all participated in the Roast in the past and Charlie’s personality will be a perfect addition to the series.

The Roast, set to debut a mere hour after the season premiere of Two and a Half Men with Sheen’s replacement Ashton Kutcher, is scheduled to tape on September 10th and air September 19th on Comedy central. What do you think about Sheen’s upcoming Roast? Is Charlie still “winning”?
