Smashing Pumpkins

Smashing Pumpkins have launched a mysterious countdown clock on their website. It’s set to end on Thursday, February 15 at noon and features the option to join a mailing list. The clock follows rumors that the band are reuniting. Though the lineup isn’t confirmed, Billy Corgan has teased on Instagram that band is working on a new album with Rick Rubin. He’s also shared photos with original guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin; it’s unclear whether original bassist D’Arcy Wretzky will be involved.

They’ve also announced new Smashing Pumpkins ice cream trucks that can be found in New York and Los Angeles. See their Instagram post below for more details on their Yamaha guitar contest. Since 2016, Corgan and guitarist Jeff Schroeder have been the only official core members of Smashing Pumpkins, while Chamberlin has acted as the touring drummer and Iha has joined them for a few live guest appearances. The group’s last official release was 2014’s Monuments to an Elegy. Last year, Corgan released the solo album Ogilala.
