Maroon 5 performs to sold out crowd at the Hollywood Bowl

Pop/rock sensation Maroon 5 performed to a sold out audience Monday July 25th at the famous Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, performing some of their biggest hits and some surprises along the way.

Native to Los Angeles, lead singer Adam Levine and his band mates considered performing at the legendary Hollywood Bowl a dream come true and the ultimate venue to play at when you make it big from Los Angeles. With three hugely successful albums (2002’s Songs About Jane, 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long, and 2010’s Hands All Over) serving as material for the night, many of the group’s biggest hits were included in the 15-song set list.

Maroon 5 started the night off with their latest smash single “Moves Like Jagger” and combined with psychedelic lighting effects and the song’s signature whistling sound, the crowd was up on their feet and dancing for the remainder of the night. They followed up “Jagger” with their first single “Harder To Breathe”, which contained elements of the Kanye West song “Power”. The hits “Sunday Morning”, “If I Never See Your Face Again”, “Misery”, and “Make Me Wonder” followed before Adam Levine took to the microphone to engage with the audience.

They performed “The Sun” off of the Song About Jane record, a song they have included in tours past and appears to be a favorite of the bands, as its lyrics and message are a perfect representation of that album. In Maroon 5’s first surprise of the night, for their rendition of the Michael Jackson classic “Man in the Mirror”, Levine called upon his protégé and winner of the NBC talent show The Voice, Javier Colon, to duet with him to an excited crowd. They followed up the moving cover with “Never Gonna Leave This Bed”, “Wake Up Call”, “Stutter”, and “This Love” before pausing for their encore performances.

In the final surprise for the evening, Levine promise that a legendary musical talent would be joining the group on stage and he did not disappoint. He brought iconic singer Stevie Nicks on stage for a stellar duet of her hit “Leather and Lace”, receiving uproarious applause from the audience. Following their duet, Maroon 5 closed out the show with the rock-heavy track “Hands All Over” and the fan favorite “She Will Be Loved”, for which Levine included the entire audience to sing along and brought onstage a lucky fan who has followed the group since the beginning of their career.

Maroon 5 continues to prove that they are the ultimate showmen and that they are most comfortable touring in front of sold out audiences. While their shows continue to get bigger and better and more star-studded, just being at the Hollywood Bowl alone seemed humbling enough for the LA-born band, as their excitement and enthusiasm never faltered. Many of their songs were extended to include guitar and drum solos, showcasing the talents each member of the group has. In addition to his unmatchable vocal abilities, Levine’s charm and charisma did not go unnoticed by female audiences members, who swooned at the singer’s every move throughout the night. Overall, Maroon 5 is one of the most enjoyable bands to see live and their love for their music and fans is evident.
