Hawthorne Heights Upcoming “Hate” EP
In 2001, an American rock band formed and the name of this band is Hawthorne Heights. The Dayton, Ohio rock band, which consists of JT Woodruff (vocals, guitar), Matt Ridenour (bass), Micah Carli (guitar), Eron Bucciarelli (drums), started out with a dream to become a full-time, professional band. That dream came true after the release of their debut CD "The Silence In Black And White" through Victory records.
After rearranging the lineup and a name change from "A Day In The Life," the band began playing out self-booked tours. They shared stages with bands like Descendents, From Autumn To Ashes and Coheed And Cambria. After two years of touring, in Chicago, IL. Victory Records' President, Tony Brummel, listens to Hawthorne Heights's CD, which he immediately is taken by them. The boys soon is on a road trip from Dayton to Chicago to showcase their incredible talents, after which they get signed to Victory Records.
"The Silence in Black And White" was released in 2004, which slowly built sales until the release of the video for "Ohio is for Lovers". The video debuted on MTV, which pushed the band to nationwide success and a growth in their fanbase. The album peaked at number 56. Their second album, If Only You Were Lonely, debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts.
A year after their enormous success with their second album, tragedy struck. Casey Calvert, the band's lead guitarist, was found dead on their tour bus on Nov. 24, 2007. The band had started their US tour a day earlier in Detroit, Michigan. They spent a few days mourning the lose of their band member, which lead to a song dedicated to Calvert called "Sugar in the Engine".
Fast forward to current day, Hawthorne Heights has started their own label called Cardboard Empire. The band will be self-releasing a trilogy of EPs, which begins with Hate. The first part of this trilogy will be released next week, Aug. 23. MTV.com has already premiered the new song, "Four White Walls", off of Hate. Also happening in the world of Hawthorne Heights is their You Are Not Alone Tour, which starts tomorrow, Aug. 20.
