Britney Spears gives it her all in her Femme Fatale Tour

Pop singer Britney Spears brought her highly anticipated Femme Fatale Tour to Los Angeles and Anaheim, California this week, to much acclaim from both critics and fans alike.

Following the release of her album in March, Spears had announced that she would indeed be going on tour beginning in June, promising fans that it was the absolute best show she has ever put together. And she was right. In addition to a set list packed with some of her biggest hits, Spears pulled out all of her big showgirl guns for what may just be one of the best concerts to attend this summer.

The show began with Spears under the surveillance of a stalker, watching her be chased down by the police, armed with a gun and a metallic leotard. When Spears is ultimately captured by police, she begins the show with her number one single “Hold It Against Me”, where flashy choreography is combined with Spears being strapped to an electric chair by dancers dressed as police officers. In her next number for her song “Up n’ Down”, the singer finds herself in a jail cell, and tricks a cop into handcuffing himself to the bars in order to escape to perform her hits “3” and “Piece of Me”.

Following her escape from custody, Spears’ stalker grows more anxious to find her, as she travels to different parts of the world using different aliases. She goes onto perform “Big Fat Bass”, “How I Roll”, “Lace & Leather (for which she brings a lucky male fan on stage for a lap dance), and “If U Seek Amy” before heading to Egypt, where the shows flashy set is transformed into an ancient Egyptian setting. Sporting a gold bikini, Spears performs the songs “Gimme More”, “Drop Dead Beautiful”, “He About To Lose Me”, “Boys”, and “Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know”, with many of these songs remixed from their original format to fit the Egyptian theme.

We later see Spears change yet again, this time rocking biker denim and a bikini top for the song “Baby One More Time” and for her version of Rihanna’s hit “S&M”. From there, she proceeds into “Trouble For Me” before breaking into much of her original choreography for fan favorite “I’m A Slave 4 U”. Spears then straddles a giant electric guitar for her cover of Madonna’s “Burning Up” before bringing fans on stage to dance with her for her latest single “I Wanna Go” and to dance atop a rising stage for a remix of her hit “Womanizer”.

As the show begins its encore, we see Britney’s stalker one last time, ready to bring the singer to justice, but not before Britney herself takes matters into her own hands, smothering him with a napkin full of chloroform and giving herself the name “sexy assassin”. She then goes onto perform a Japanese-inspired version of “Toxic”, featuring flashy Kimonos and parasols and the final number of the night, “Till The World Ends”, featuring Spears ascending into the air with angel wings.

As a performer, Spears definitely still knows how to work a crowd and give fans what they want out of a Britney Spears show, and then some. Not only did Spears’ costumes, set pieces, and backup dancers shine, she herself wowed fans with her live singing, as almost every song was performed with live vocals, in addition to intricate choreography and, most importantly, a vibrate energy that was evident on Spears’ face throughout the entire show. Despite what has been said about the singer’s life and her past troubles, she proves everyone wrong with her Femme Fatale Tour and shows that she can still draw a crowd. Overall, the show is a must see for die-hard Britney fans, or fans of fun pop music in general. A night of dancing, surprises, and excitement will be had by all, guaranteed.
