Fire postpones Lil Wayne’s sentencing

One delay, two delays, and third time’s the charm!

Lil Wayne’s one-year jail sentence is postponed once again after a fire broke out at the New York Courthouse where Lil Wayne was to be sentenced, sources say.

A small fire in a “wooden contractor’s shed” is to blame for the evacuation around 10:30 am (EST) after the building filled with smoke, according to The Associated Press.

The New York Post reported that Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro and another court employee were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, state courts spokesman David Bookstaver said. The courthouse will be closed today, and Lil Wayne’s sentencing will resume tomorrow at 2:15 pm (EST).

Reports say that Lil Wayne was not pleased with the delay. In the last of his hours of freedom, the artist mentally prepared for his year-long absence by tweeting “they kant lok up my heart bekuz y’all already have it on lok. ......thank u.”

This is the second delay to his previous Feb. 9 jail sentence which was delayed due to extensive dental work. During his delay, the artist worked furiously to produce videos and music, ensuring that his musical presence will not be absent during his sentence.

“yesterday i smiled, today i smirked, tomorrow i stop…..........................thanks for your thoughts and prayers, they’re needed.” – Lil Wayne (liltunechi)
