The Hangover

Four men throw a bachelor party in Vegas that ends in a night they can’t remember, and the groom is no were to be found. This movie is an instant classic that definitely deserves any movie lover’s attention. It’s a practical line-o-rama as each well delivered bit of dialogue from this stellar comedy cast stays with you after the movie and bursts out as you walk down the street. “Not you fat Jesus,” “Who was that guy? He was so mean!”, Stu’s tiger song, and anything coming out of Zach Galifianakis’ mouth is a nugget of pure excellent comedic timing. Long story short, it’s a really good and funny movie.

The movie starts with the four friends on their trip to Vegas for Doug’s bachelor party. They proceed to party in many Vegas hotspots and wake up in a thrashed hotel room without the faintest idea of what happened the previous night, and worse off, they’ve lost Doug. Hilarity ensues as they piece together their crazy, crazy night in an attempt to get back in time for the wedding. I watched this movie a little skeptical, as everyone around me really hyped it up. I wasn’t disappointed. Everything about this movie worked wonders for the comedy. The cast of Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Heather Graham, Mike Tyson, and others come together as each role, no matter how minor, brings out the laughs. Each actor makes their screen time count, none more so than Zach Galifianakis. His strange outcast character Alan is the standout of the crew. He makes you a little uncomfortable but his little quirks make you enjoy him throughout, such as his random ramblings or his refusal to curse, make him is the overall star of this movie.

The DVD comes with commentary and bonus material. It also comes with more pictures from the hidden camera. These pictures came up at the end, and I can honestly say for the first time that the credits are among my favorite parts in this movie, which is something definitely special. These are pictures that give small insights into what their night was like, and more of these are definitely a bonus. The Hangover is a fun experience and should be given a look. My conversations with my friends are now almost entirely Hangover quotes. Something like that is a rare gem indeed.
