Meet the new voice of Sonic
You know him as Sega’s mascot around since the days of the Genesis. He has been in more games than you can count, and recently in a cross over sports game with Nintendo’s big mascot Mario.
For years now Sonic has been going through a few different voice actors, most noticeably Jaleel White, aka Steve Urkel during the Saturday morning 90′s cartoon series. Since moving to the Dreamcast Ryan Drummond gave the video game character life and Jason then Anthony Griffith has taken the reigns for the newer Sonic series games.
Say hello to the new voice of Sonic the Hedgehog, Roger Craig Smith. He voices anime and video game characters for some high ranking series including Naruto, Bleach, Chris Redfield in Resident Evil 5, Ezio in Assassin’s Creed 2 and Brootherhood just to name a few. Now add Sonic the Hedgehog to his list of voices, how will he do? Only time and trailers will do since the Blue Hedgehog’s voice has that cocky cool pitch.
Roger Craig Smith’s first work as Sonic will be Sonic Colors for Wii and DS, followed by Sonic Free Riders for the Kinect.

If Mr. Smith does half as well as he did with Ezio, I am sure that Sonic will sound cool in this next series of Sonic games. As Ezio (at least in AC2, I haven’t played brotherhood) he did a great job capturing the emotion of the different moments of the game. That has to be a tough job to be the voice of the main character of the game because as the player, that is my voice. I am that character so what he says and the emotions he’s feeling are technically what the player is feeling (depending on how into the game they get). Smith does a great job of drawing you in and making you feel what the character feels.

A political cartoon is usually a caricature that physically makes fun of the subject person. Since our president is obviously black looking, how does a political cartoonist do a satirical cartoon making fun of his prominent features w/o being called a racist? Is this a touchy subject?
