August 10th 2011

A few days after a collection of set photos were released, Paramount Pictures have announced the release date of the next big blockbuster, World War Z. The official date that the production company is shooting for is Dec. 21, 2012.

The film is based on Max Brooks's novel of the same title. The film will tell tell the story of a world that is overrun by zombies, the flesh-eating kind. The novel itself is set 10 years after the crisis. The researchers of the U.N. Postwar Commission were interviewing the survivors of the war that obliterated the world as we know it.

The film will star Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Julia Levy-Boeken and Bryan Cranston. The film is currently in production.

December 2012 is going to be one packed month at the cineplexes. World War Z will also be joined by Gore Verbinski's The Lone Ranger, Judd Apatow's This is Forty (it's a working title), Ang Lee's Life of Pi and Phillip Noyce's Hunter Killer. Also opening up that month is Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained.
