The catalyst and central character of the successful award winning children’s series, Court enjoyed portraying the Loonette in THE BIG COMFY COUCH, a young child clown with huge reading glasses. “I made her very energetic”, says Alyson Court. “At first, I worried about taking things too far, but she’s a clown, and you can go far with that”. A bouncy, fun-loving youngster, Loonette is adventuresome and mischievous, which can sometimes lead to surprises – but she always takes responsibility for her actions.

As a 25-year veteran of stage and screen, Court has compiled an impressive list of abilities, accomplishments and performances. A trained singer, dancer, actress and storyteller, she debuted at age six in the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Madame Butterfly. At age 10, she received her first acting role at the Limelight Dinner Theatre’s production of Annie.

Court advanced her studies and training of drama, music, mime, visual arts and dance at the Etobicoke School for the Arts and the Claude Watson School of the Arts.

The young actress’ film credits include: portraying “Priscilla Presley” in Elvis Meets Nixon for Showtime, Jerry & Tom directed by Saul Rubinek, South of Wawa, Rolling Vengeance, two Care Bears animated films and Follow That Bird for Warner Bros.

Numerous television credits include 3 seasons as the daily host of Get Set For Life for the CBC for which she received a Gemini Nomination for Best Performance, an honour that she had previously received twice for her portrayal of “Loonette” in 6 Seasons of The Big Comfy Couch (YTV). Other selected television credits include the CBS’ mini-series Haven and The Last Don, guest appearances on John Woo’s Once A Thief, E.N.G., Top Cops, Road To Avonlea, My Secret Identity and a regular spot on the long running children’s show for TV-O, Mr. Dress-Up.

Her experience also includes a substantial amount of voice work for animated television programs since the age of 10, including: Beatlejuice, X-Men, Spiderman, My Pet Monster, Care Bears, Bill And Ted’s Excellent Adventures and most recently, SPIEZ: The Next Generation, Willa’s Wild Life, Z-Squad, Urban Vermin, Skyland, Friends And Heroes, Tweenies, My Dad The Rock Star, Braceface, Berenstein Bears, Bob & Margaret, Timothy Goes To School and Monster By Mistake, to name a few. Alyson has also voiced various Videogames, including: X-Men, Spawn and Resident Evil 2 & 3 and can be heard is a familiar voice actor in many CBC Radio Dramas.

Court also appeared in the stage productions of The Effect Of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds, Peter Pan and Braille Manuscript.

As Loonette, Court has had the privilege of meeting former US President Bill Clinton, appear on The Rosie O’Donell Show and has participated for several years in the Dream Takes Flight program, taking hundreds of physically, mentally or socially challenged children on a trip of a lifetime to Disney World, Florida. Her charitable work has also taken her all across North America as an active participant in the Children’s Wish Foundation.
