Anime Expo 2011: Maon Kurosaki

Anime fans that have been keeping up with the popular anime series, High School of the Dead, may be familiar with Maon Kurosaki, the music artist who does the closing themes for High School of the Dead. At the Anime Expo, Maon, as well as the creators of High School of the Dead, made an appearance to talk to the fans about her new album.

The creators revealed that they wanted a different ending song for each episode, since each episode had it's own unique style and story. They expressed how crucial it was working with an artist that could complete a track in less than half-a day, and how much of a pleasure it was working with the beautiful Maon Kurosaki.

Maon discussed her personal interest, as well as why she was attracted to the idea of doing music for an Anime. Maon has been a fan of anime and video games since her childhood, and wanted to display this passion in her music, as well as in her music videos. The music videos shown displayed portions where Maon cosplayed as some of the characters of High School of the Dead.

Maon's music videos coincide with some of the themes of the show. She wants to send the message that if you believe you can achieve it, then you will accomplish your dreams. Other themes, such as being yourself, and having the ability to change when you need to, which may seem contradictory, were also themes explored in the show and Maon's music. Whether these themes will land a date with Maon is still left to be seen.

Check out the highlights of the panel below, and stay tuned for more Anime Expo coverage, as well as the music videos for Maon.
